Podsreda Castle is one of the most important castles in Slovenia in terms of architectural heritage, especially Romanesque architecture. It lies on the northern slope of Orlica at an altitude of 475 m, 5 km away from the eponymous Podsreda town square. Hörgerg or Herberch, as it was once called, was built in the first half of the 12th century, with a simple and typical rectangular design. Around 1180, a high bergfried defensive tower was built, around 1220 they built the southern palatium, and around 1260 a tower with a chapel, which in 1612 the Bishop of Ljubljana Tomaž Hren dedicated to St. Philip, St. Jacob, and St. Anne.
